University Policy Committees

A large part of the university's political work takes place in the following committees. In the TUM Student Council, the positions and goals of the Student Representation are developed, which are then presented to the Senate and the Study and Teaching Board / Parliament, among others.

TUM Student Council

The TUM Student Council is the meeting of all 14 student bodies and thus the highest student body of the TUM. It usually takes place every 3 weeks and is open to the public. Depending on the size of the school/(study) faculty, the student bodies have different numbers of votes. The committee sets positions and elects the Chairpersons and Representatives of the AStA.

Study and Teaching Board and Parliament

The Study and Teaching Board deals with problems and suggestions for improvement concerning the area of Study and Teaching. In a small circle, also with our 2 Representatives, constructive discussions are held and solutions are worked out. You can find the current composition here.

The Study and Teaching Parliament consists of the Study and Teaching Board, extended by the Deans of Studies and the Student Senate Representatives. The meetings serve the exchange and information between us, the faculties and the TUM’s Study and Teaching Unit HRSL

Senate

The Senate is the highest academic body of the TU Munich, it mainly deals with changes of study programs and the appointment of new professors. Further information about the current composition you find here.

University Council

The University Council elects the President and Vice Presidents. It determines the long-term orientation of Research, Study and Teaching and is the central supervisory body. Furthermore, it also serves, through this composition to take the positions of business, science and society into consideration.

Conference of Bavarian Student Representatives

Since education policy is a task for the federal states, we also work together with other Student Representations throughout Bavaria. This primarily happens at the monthly Conference of Bavarian Student Representatives. At changing university locations, the focus is on developing positions and exchanging ideas.
