Departments
The departments of AStA (General Student Committee) of the Technical University of Munich cover various areas that deal with the concerns and interests of students.
Senate and TUM Board of Trustees
The two representatives of the Senate and TUM Board of Trustees represent the opinion of the students at the two highest decision-making bodies of the university. Both representatives are elected directly by the students at the university elections and each has one vote in the Senate. The representatives elected by the university election usually stand for election in the TUM Student Council as speakers for the Senate and the TUM Board of Trustees.
In addition to student representatives, there are also professors, representatives of scientific and other employees in the Senate. This committee discusses topics such as study program statutes or appointments. In addition to the Senators, also other external people from business, politics and culture are part of the University Council. Among other things, the strategic orientation of the university is discussed there, faculties and courses of study are set up and dissolved and the University Presidium is elected.

Diversity & Queer Department
The Diversity & Queer Department offers a platform for students who do not find themselves within the current sexual and gender norm or belong to other minorities. We want to enable you to exchange experiences, solve conflicts as well as taking care of your wishes and suggestions for your university life. In addition, we always want to create a protected, non-discriminatory and respectful space.

Finance Department
The Finance Department is occupied equally by up to two students elected by the Student Council. The primary responsibilities of the Finance Department are to prepare calculations and balance sheets, monitor cash receipts and disbursements, and make transfers and bookings. They also work with the respective officers to obtain quotes for new purchases and make recommendations on financial matters. Since the finance officers also manage the budget for AStA events, such as the TUNIX Open-Air, they are responsible for both organizational and administrative work.

University Policy Department
The University Policy Department is dedicated to university policy issues at TUM itself, but also beyond. The majority opinion of the student body that you represent provides the framework, but within this framework you can let your imagination run free and realize your own ideas like in hardly other department. The most important tasks include supporting the Chairpersons, e.g. in writing press releases and in obtaining information, establishing and maintaining communication with other universities (especially throughout Bavaria) to act actions, protests or important strategic issues in a coordinated manner, and internal university-political educational work, for example, in the form of discussion groups.

Department for Housing
Many students of TUM do not come from Munich and therefore have to move and find a new apartment in Munich to be able to study here. Unfortunetely, housing in Munich is scarce and also very expensive. Many students don't have much money for their rent. For this problem, there is the Department for Housing, which deals with the topic Student housing in Munich!

Environmental Department
The Environmental Department is committed to increasing the presence of the environment and sustainability in teaching and in campus life. The focus of the work is the organization of the Environmental Lecture Series. In addition to the lecture series, the department is also working on many other projects related to a green university. For example, events such as clothing swap parties and "Sustainable Walking Tours" are regularly organized for new students in Munich. Additionally, the "Green Mensa" project regularly exchanges with the Munich Upper Bavaria Student Services to jointly make university catering more sustainable.
