Heads of the Task Force Sustainable Campus Development
The campus is the place where research, teaching, and university life intersect, making it a key driver of the university's sustainable transformation. The Sustainable Campus Development Task Force is dedicated to the mission of systematically advancing the sustainability of the campus and its buildings in alignment with the TUM Sustainable Futures Strategy 2030. A primary focus is the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions at the building level.
However, the Task Force’s work extends beyond this: grounded in a holistic understanding of sustainability that gives equal weight to ecological, economic, and social dimensions, it aims to create a future-proof campus that offers a high quality of life for all members of TUM.
Of the six action areas defined in the TUM sustainability strategy—research, teaching and continuing education, entrepreneurship, campus operations and resource management, governance and university community, and communication and global engagement—the Task Force focuses primarily on campus operations and resource management at both the campus and building levels.
Acting as a think tank, the Task Force elaborates on proposed measures within this action area and translates them into actionable concepts. Furthermore, it serves as an advisory body, providing technical support to the real estate department—which is responsible for implementation—during the delivery of these measures.
