Committees

Senate

The Senate is the highest body of the university and consists of 11 members with voting rights, including two student representatives who you can vote for in the university elections.

The Senate deals with:

  • Legislation to be passed by the university
  • Proposals for changes to degree programmes
  • Approval of new or amended subject examination regulations (FPSOs)
  • Research priorities, as well as proposals for the establishment of special research areas
  • Statements on appointments

School Council

The School Council is the highest decision-making body at our TUM School of Medicine and Health.

The School Council deals with:

  • General teaching matters (e.g., courses of study, fields of study, teaching assignments)
  • Habilitations (formal confirmation of teaching qualifications)
  • Grant of authorization to teach and the appointment of professors

The School Council's decisions often have to be confirmed by the university management and possibly also by the senate in order to become effective.

Student Council

Your student council is made up of students from our sports and health student council. The student council is basically your contact person if you have any problems. In addition, the student council represents your interests vis-à-vis our TUM School of Medicine and Health and vis-à-vis the other student councils in the Student Representative Council.

Student Representative Council

The Student Representative Council (FSR) is a kind of parliament and forms the highest supra-faculty student body, and thus, so to speak, the legislature of student representation at TUM. Each of the currently 14 student councils has the possibility of sending representatives to the FSR. Each student council has at least two votes, depending on the number of students in the respective department. FSR meetings usually take place every 3 weeks, but special meetings can be called by student councils. The location of the meeting changes between different locations of the TUM, usually a mixture of the largest locations, Stammgelände, Garching, and Weihenstephan. At these meetings, various topics are discussed that affect students university-wide, such as the accreditation of university groups, SV events, or the Deutschlandstipendium. In addition, the FSR elects the departments and representatives of the student representation. In addition, applications for financial support or for the loan of event equipment can be submitted to the Student Council. The meetings are open to the public, i.e., you can come by at any time and take a look at our work. In addition, all students at TUM have the right to apply and speak.
